Our family run 37 pitch campsite is to be found at the foot of the medieval "City" walls of Alet, on the river-bank of the Aude. Here our visitors find a calm and friendly ambiance in which to spend their time between visits to the local sights. Catering for caravans, motorhomes and tents throughout the year with a good mix of hard-standings and grass pitches (all with electric points) coordinated camping and B&B bookings are often taken to enable campers and non-campers alike to enjoy their holiday's together.

The village has most facilities needed for everyday life - including a Grocer (who also supplies the bread) and Green Grocer's shop along with Restaurants and even a Casino with Piano Bar.

Since our arrival here in 1994 constant improvements have been made to our campsite in direct response to feedback from the growing number of customers that come throughout the year.

Attention to detail remains one of our highest priorities. Throughout the campsite we have replaced ageing trees with a variety of elms and flowering acacias. Now well established, they give welcome dappled shade with “sun-bathing gaps” during summer, open sunny pitches during winter and glorious blossom for our springtime visitors.

Pitches are mostly level with small terraced stone walls and are of grass or gravel. The number of hard standings has recently been increased by demand of our all-year-round camping car & caravan visitors. They are mostly private, being divided by hedging, shrubs and trees as well as flower planters, rockeries and flowerbeds.

Flowers are planted for summer and again in winter to maintain colour throughout the year helped by a full drip-feed watering system. The result gives great pleasure to our clients and we have received several awards for our efforts from the local authorities, in their annual competition!

Recent replacement of all electrical installations includes a CEE socket for every pitch and means no reversed polarity problems here. Arrivals have a choice of amperage up to 10amps, selecting and paying only for what they need.

Two years ago we constructed a completely new building to house the Reception and Sanitary facilities.

With 15 years of feedback from our clients we knew exactly what we wanted and our guests since then have been very complimentary (some professing amazement at the high standard and quality of our facilities!).

The high level windows and high-pitched ceiling mean that it is cool, light and airy during the heat of the summer. In winter the modern insulated building materials and double-glazing ensures everyone’s comfort and that, when needed, the central heating can work with efficiency.

Hand basinsShowers

In the sanitary building there are washing up sinks, hand-basins and showers all with hot & cold running water, hairdryer and shaving electric points. In the shower cabins we have “proper” shower mixer taps, so no fixed temperature, push button or chain operated showers, our guests control the temperature and flow! All hot water is free; there are no hidden charges. We also have modern, wall-hung, pressure-flush WCs for maximum cleanliness and hygiene.

Disabled cubicleWashing-up area

Wheelchair accessible disabled facilities with shower, hand basin & WC and the commercial washing machine and tumble dryer are also to be found here.

Outdoor sinks

For those that prefer it, we have kept some outdoor washing up and hand-laundry sinks

Also outside is the covered but airy, ground level, grey water emptying point, together with a separate, flushable, chemical disposal point. We encourage our campers to recycle their rubbish by providing a selective multi-bin disposal point.

Recycling

Our modern Reception / Shop stocks provisions, local wines and beer, some groceries, ice creams, local guide books, maps, camping gaz, some camping and caravanning accessories and other seasonal items. We provide an ice pack freezing service and Telephone Cards are also on sale for use in the payphone on site. A wide range of Tourist Information about the local area and attractions is available here and we have a good selection of reading books that you can borrow whilst on site or exchange for books that you have read.

Reception Desk

Wi-Fi Internet access is available, simply hook-up your laptop directly to our wireless network and keep in touch with loved-ones through email or simply browse the web.
Animals kept under control are welcome on the campsite and there are adjacent pathways on which you may exercise your dog.
There are also a variety of walks for all abilities and we can lend large-scale “Ordnance Survey” type maps to help you make the most of them.
